Ideal for families or couples (with or without dogs) seeking a peaceful rural retreat close to Dartmouth and the stunning Start Bay coastline, our cottage is furnished and equipped to a good standard. Spread over two levels, it features a large, attractive, and significantly extended garden, as well as a hot tub and sauna. And yes, we’re dog-friendly too!
Aside from being just a stone’s throw away from the stunning Blackpool Sands beach, we’re also conveniently located within a short drive from other local attractions such as Slapton Sands. Our cottage is perfect for those seeking a relaxing beach holiday near Blackpool Sands, but also want to explore the beautiful countryside and coastal scenery of Devon.

The garden has been significantly extended to now incorporate the neighbouring field and this means there’s plenty of outdoor open space for dogs and children to run around it. Bring a tent, and let the children camp in the garden for a great adventure! The garden also has a large trampoline for children to use during their stay.
The cottage benefits from a Hot Tub. This is for the exclusive use of guests staying in the cottage. Due to the special health & safety considerations associated with this facility, we also ask that guests adhere to the House Rules specific to the Hot Tub and in proceeding with a booking, guests are agreeing to comply with this rules.
The grounds of the cottage also has a 4 person outdoor sauna. Again, guests are reminded to respect this facility and comply with the House Rules relating to this.
Finally, a separate annex has also been converted to provide a 3rd bedroom. Guests wishing to use the annex should search up our separate listing for the entire cottage including the annex. Those wishing to stay in the annex should also be aware that it doesn’t have its own ensuite facilities and involves steps to reach it.
In 2017, Oak Tree Lodge was added to the grounds of the cottage. This is a luxury ‘Shepherd’s Hut’ that sleeps a further 4 people. Located discreetly behind a hedge with its own private entrance, Oak Tree lodge is a separate but neighbouring dwelling that can be rented independently. A secure fence separates the area where Oak Tree Lodge is located, and windows are directed away from the cottage. Separate parties can rent the cottage and the lodge without impacting on either’s privacy or enjoyment of the outdoor space. Oak Tree Lodge is listed separately and can be booked independently, although lends itself to larger parties or those holidaying with extended family as both properties can be booked.

Clotted Cream Cottage is pet friendly, but Oak Tree Lodge is not.
The property is most suited to families and couples who want to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of a countryside setting, in the knowledge that they are only minutes from Dartmouth itself and the beautiful South Hams area.
We do not accept stag or hen parties and ask that all guests are respectful of their surroundings and our neighbours.
Clotted Cream Cottage is located close to a working dairy farm and as such, guests can expect farm traffic on the lane outside the property. This is infrequent and most of the time, the only noise you will hear is the mooing of cows and tweeting of birds.
There are wooden floors in the cottage and two steps from the bathroom onto the landing. Guests are advised to dry feet if having taken a bath or shower to avoid slipping. There are also steps leading to the front door and from the cottage to the garden. For this reason, it is unsuitable for guests with impaired mobility.
The property has a Hot Tub in the garden for guests to use. Any guest wishing to make use of the Hot Tub must fully read and comply with the usage Instructions. Should a guest require the Hot Tub to be fully emptied, cleaned and refilled prior to their arrival, this can be arranged only when the booking is made at least 7 days in advance and will be subject to a one off fee of £95. This is because it takes 5 hours to fully empty and refill.
We hope that guests appreciate that whilst this is a lovely added bonus of the property, it does come with its own unique health & safety risks. Guests must understand that the use of the Hot Tub is entirely at their own risk and the owners will not be held liable in any way for any injury, illness, or death caused by use of the Hot Tub.
The property also has a 4 person outdoor sauna and guests are expected to follow the rules laid out in the House Rules with regards to this. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD CHILDREN BELOW THE AGE OF 8 USE THE SAUNA, and ALL children must be supervised by a responsible adult. Guests must understand that the use of the Sauna entirely at their own risk and the owners will not be held liable in any way for any injury, illness, or death caused by use of the Sauna.
